2020 Pakistan Super League

2020 Pakistan Super League (also known as PSL 5 or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2020) will be the fifth period of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was set up by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015.

The alliance will be held altogether in Pakistan for the first time. The competition is booked to happen between 20 February 2020 and 22 March 2020.

Background

In February 2019, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, reported that the fifth period of the competition will be held completely in Pakistan. In March 2019, Ehsan Mani, Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board also communicated the craving to have all the matches of this season in Pakistan.

On 1 January 2020, PCB declared installations for the competition affirming that the whole competition will occur in Pakistan.

The players draft occurred on 6 December, with the first round occurring on 3 November 2019.

Ahead of the draft, each group was permitted to hold up to eight players from their past squad. On 1 December 2019, PCB reported the maintenance players list with every one of the six groups holding an aggregate of 45 players from the past season.
